John Barrett
John has been licensed to practice law since 1974.  He has practiced exclusively family law since approximately 1985 but has had a diverse career that includes criminal, insurance, and other types of civil law.  He has been Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1986.  Mr. Barrett is originally from Waco and graduated Summa Cum Laude (highest honors) from Baylor University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics and received his law degree from the University of Texas.  Mr. Barrett is a very experienced family law litigator and has particular expertise in complicated custody and relocation cases. He has received the required training and certification as a civil and family law mediator and a collaborative law practitioner.
Kathleen Coble
Kathleen has been licensed to practice law since 2005 and is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  Kathleen has always practiced exclusively family law.  Kathleen grew up in Corpus Christi and received her undergraduate degree in International Business with a specialty in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.  Kathleen graduated Magna Cum Laude (high honors) from the University of Houston Law Center. While she was there, she was the President of the Order of the Barons Honor Society and was named as a member of the national Order of the Coif Honor Society after graduating in the top 10% of her class. Kathleen has been named as a Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014.  She is a member of the State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee and is a fellow for the Texas Bar Foundation.  Kathleen has received the required training and certification as a civil and family law mediator and a collaborative law practitioner.
Board Certification
Out of approximately 84,000 attorneys in the State of Texas, only 738 are Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (as of 2010).  In the Austin area, including Williamson, Travis and Hays counties, there are only approximately 75 attorneys that are Board Certified in Family Law.  For more information on board certification, please visit http://tbls.org.
